Evanwhit PWC is a small kennel located in the Renton, WA. area that was started in 1962 with the gift of a Pembroke Welsh Corgi from Lee Stromquist of JoDan kennel. Petite (Evans Petite Lady CD) was sired by AM/MEX Ch Pentrick Most Happy Fella ex Ch JoDan Miss Priss.

Shortly after getting Petite we moved to Seattle. I attended the Seattle Kennel Club show and saw 5 other corgis. I was bitten by the show bug. Realizing Petite was not a show dog, I proceeded to find a show dog. I was lucky to have a new friend that wrote to a Schkipperke breeder in England who recommended an English corgi breeder to me. Thus, from Audrey Phillipson of the Winsdelf Kennels, I got Winsdelf Tilda of Beal Close, which became my first champion. After that I got Winsdelf Gallant who was my second champion. From Gallant and a Larklain bred female I got my first homebred champions, Evanwhit’s Copper Khan and Evanwhit’s Acerino Copper.

I joined the Golden Gate Pembroke Welsh Corgi Fanciers to keep in contact with other corgi breeders. I organized the corgi people in the Seattle area to form the Cascade Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club in 1965 and was invited by a breeder from Canada to join the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America in 1970.

While working a full-time job, raising three children and getting a divorce, I took a 10 year break from showing and breeding. After attending a Corgi Specialty put on by the Cascade Club I was again bitten by the bug. From one of the corgis I still had, I bred Ch Alexander’s Ragtime. I kept 3 of her siblings and from there Evanwhit Kennels resumed. I raise one or two litters a year to keep something to show.

I am proud to say that I’ve bred several champions since. My goal is not just to breed champions, but to breed quality Corgis with sound temperaments and bodies. I do testing for hips, eyes and DM routinely (See the “Links” in the sidebar for more information) Since retiring from work, I am thoroughly enjoying playing with my puppies and meeting the wonderful people who take them home to love.
